We are in Venice

We have arrived in Venice! After what seems like forever we are at our hotel. It is beautiful here and I can't wait to take some photos to share with you all. We left from Denver International Airport yesterday. Mark had purchased a new book to read on the plane. Once we boarded our flight headed to Chicago he realized he had left his new book on the chair at the departure gate. So, it looks like someone else has a new book for the plane. Our flight was fine going to Chicago. Once in Chicago we had a little time to walk around and stretch our legs. The flight leaving Chicago to Munich was delayed almost an hour due to the thunderstorms in the area. We were told that due to the “electrical storm” we would need to wait for clearance from the tower. That was fine with me. I prefer to be safe rather than on time. The flight over was great for getting some sleep. Once we got to Munich we only had 15 minutes to catch the flight to Venice. I had already decided that there was no need to rush since we still had to go through the passport check and then go across the airport to our gate. I do not know how, but when we got to the gate we were able to board. The only person at our gate was the attendant and I thought for sure she was going to tell us we had to take a later flight. Mark and I had to sit apart, but we were only one flight away from Italy. As I was getting ready to depart the plane I realized I had left Mark's vest on the flight from Munich. Now he is out a book and his vest. Not a good thing, but I lost the vest so that is on me.
I have to say that it was rather interesting trying to buy our ticket for the vaporetto (water bus) to get to our hotel. Once we figured it out we bought some euros and headed out. 90 minutes later we arrived to the stop near our hotel. We were so lucky that we only had to cross one bridge (all steps) with our luggage to get to our hotel.
Now we are here and getting unpacked and deciding if we need a nap or just get out and do things. It might be a short trip outside and then time to sleep. Pictures will be posted either this evening or tomorrow (depending on how awake I am). More to come..................
