Finally, I have CLEAN clothes!!

I have clean laundry!!! You all must know what that means; Mark and I found a lavanderia. Woo hoo! I am so happy. We have been hauling one suitcase around in our trunk for a couple of days now. Today I wore my last clean outfit. Now I am set for a good 5 days at least. That will probably get me by until the end of our Rome trip beginning of our Sorrento trip. It may sound like a little thing, but I do not want to smell like a lot of the tourist around here. How can one stand themselves when they smell so bad? Ugghhhhh.
We set our alarm so we would make sure we were up at a good time to get ready, have breakfast and the head out. We were off to Perugia this morning. I knew it was going to be a little more difficult than navigating around Assisi. Perugia is much larger. Well, I didn't know that I was going to be so stressed out by the time we got to the parking area. Yikes! Mark was not having fun not knowing where he was going and driving around and around and around in circles. Finally after we had driven around one area about 4 tines I told him just to park...anywhere. Really, at that point,. I did not care where. What a relief when we pulled into the parking area that was right where we needed to be. We then took the escalators that go right up the side of the hillside town. I am glad I didn't have to walk all the way up. I probably wouldn't have made it. We got oriented to the area we were in and then we began our day.
First we went into the Umbria Gallery Museum. It has the most famous and valuable artwork, religious artwork, and fabric from this area. Some of the stuff dates back to the 1200-1300s. Beautiful. Mark on the other hand keeps telling me he is going to have nightmares. There were pictures of Jesus begin crucified with blood and arrows, heads severed off bodies, etc. I told him it was fine and he needed to appreciate the are qualities – how the light illuminated the pictures. He doesn't really appreciate it like I do. He is such a science teacher. Hahahaha. Any how, we then decided to walk around to look at the shops. I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with Perugia. I am sure it is a nice hillside town, but I am in love with Assisi.
We had lunch and enjoyed the view from a nice cafe that took FOREVER between the salad and the lunch. In fact, I honestly was getting ready to give up on my pasta and pay when it arrived. Too funny. Mark and I shared mine after eating his pasta and my caprese salad. We then decided we wanted to leave and check out Spello.
This is when the best part of my day happened! We entered Spello and took what we thought was a wrong turn. There is was, right in front of our eyes “Lavanderia”. I yelled for him to pull over. He passed the place and we did a u-turn and hit the laundry. What a great surprise after an “ok” morning. I got the laundry going and we hit the little La Luna bar next door. I was so hot and thirsty that I had a sports drink (like Gatorade). We had our books and we just relaxed and tried not to think about how hot it was today. I went in and out of the laundry until everything was ready. Off we headed back to our villa.
We did get a little shopping in in Perugia. I hit a candy store that had local Italian chocolate. Luckily, we didn't buy much since it all melted rather quickly. We put it in the mini bar to see if we could save it. Good thing we didn't buy any as gifts. It would never have made it.
I have been reading outside enjoying our wine and cheese. It is nice and breezy outside. I am going to attach a few pictures. The clouds have been building all day. Maybe we will get a little rain.
Tomorrow we are going to Spello to walk around and see the sights and then hitting Trevi. Look for the blog and pictures to come.
Know that I am going to sleep tonight happy and with clean pajamas!
