Uffizi and Pisa

Oh what a day, what a day. Mark and I woke up early so we could go and stand in line to get into the Uffizi. It was so worth the 2 hours of standing in line. Well, Mark might not agree with you but we were inside. It was nice to see all of the paintings and to see them in person after seeing them in so many books. It was so crowded, but I am happy we were able to see everything.
After the Uffizi we went to Pisa on a half a day trip. We were able to see Florence and the area outside of Florence on our way to Pisa. Pisa was nothing like I imagined. That is not good or bad, just different. We went through the church and then we had time to walk around and get some pictures. We left our “group” to go off and have a nice lunch. What could be better than Pizza in Pisa? By the time our pizza came we only had 10 minutes to eat quickly and get back to meet our bus. We made it back in time to see our group heading out to the bus. Luckily we were able to catch up with them. Neither Mark nor I could remember where the bus had parked since it was such a long way away from the Field of Miracles.
There was a bad accident on the road when we were heading back so we were delayed for about 30 minutes. No problem for us though...we had no plans for the evening. Well, that isn't exactly true; we wanted to hit the Lindt store so we could get some delicious treats for the remainder of our trip. It wasn't meant to be.....the store was closed when we got there about 7:30 PM. Oh well, I figure that I will just find something else another day. If I am lucky there will be a store in Rome.
Tomorrow Mark and I are taking the train from Florence to Orte and then Orte to Spoleto. In Spoleto we will be picking up our rental car and then driving to the Umbria region. Oh yes, Mark is so looking forward to driving. That isn't really true. He says he will be fine as long as he knows where he is going. We will all just have to wait and see what happens.
Since we are traveling tomorrow I do not know if I will get to post or not.Check just in case, but if not I will get on it as soon as I can. I am going to check to see if the Villa Zucarri has wi-fi.
Ciao ciao for now!!
